When you shop for a new vehicle, you will see a large window sticker listing, among other items, the vehicle’s crash test ratings.  The federal government conducts those tests and publishes their ratings so you know if you’re driving a safe vehicle. The smart fortwo meets or exceeds stringent federal safety standards.

  • 5 out of 5 stars on side impact rating
  • 4 out of 5 stars on frontal crash driver side rating
  • 3 out of 5 stars on frontal crash passenger side rating
  • 3 out of 5 stars on rollover rating

The insurance industry also does its own private tests of new vehicles and tested the smart fortwo last year using their own criteria to determine how well a vehicle protects its occupants in a crash. The smart fortwo received the highest ratings for front and side crashworthiness:

  • "Good" for frontal offset test (highest ranking possible)
  • "Good" for side impact test (highest ranking possible)
  • "Acceptable" for rear test (second highest ranking)

“Ambulance and Police didn't believe me at first that I was the driver. Great Cars, always loved them, always will. ”
